Now I've not used Skype for teaching so I'm not sure how well this will work. However it seems like a fairly nifty idea and one I'm keen to try out.
Basically it's a free add on to Skype that allows you to record conversations. You need to upgrade to Pro (US$19.95) to record conference calls. I can see a number of reasons to use this if you teach in this way.
- students who miss the class
- students who are second language learners who want to review the class
- reuse the class
Here's the lowdown from their web site:
"PowerGramo is a powerful realtime recording solution for Skype. You can record and replay any Skype call easily and simply.
Record incoming calls, outgoing calls or both
Save your recorded calls securely
Share your calls with friends
Get started in less than 3 minutes!
Totally free for download
Best of all, all recordings are securely encrypted. Optional password protection means you are the only one to access them after you login Skype.
it's also very simple to share your recordings with your friends. PowerGramo provides the options to save in the popular small audio format instead of the standard large wav file."
