"Paying Attention to Attention" is the feature story by Lisa Neal and Michael Feldstein in the current issue of eLearn. First issue of course when teaching online is anyone actually "listening" to you. We put in some interactivity but is this actually to benefit the learner or just to give us feedback that there is someone out there (cynic I hear you say). Neal and Feldstein provide some interesting questions and dialogue on the state of elearning and our attempts to find out whether learners are engaging with us or not. From video camera to electrodes on eyebrows gauging facial expression have all been tried apparently. Thankfully at the end they give sound advice - ask the learners to tell you!
