Autostart CD

Well I had my first attempt this weekend to make a CD autostart, i.e. run itself when you put it in the CD Drive.

The issue was brought up with wanting to create a CD of photos of my niece's wedding which I recently attended in the UK. I thought it would be cool to produce them an electronic wedding album of the photos I took. So I produced a PowerPoint and HTML slide show and wanted the CD to first run a web page offering these options.

Not having created an autostart CD before my first port of call was as always Google. I can across a really neat solution on "Autorun CD - How To Autorun HTML and Most Other Files" By Ed Zivkovic.

Ed recommends a Freeware program called AutorunPro so I downloaded it as instructed and followed Ed's 5 step process. Well Ed it worked like a dream first time, so a big thanks for the help.

I could see this being really useful for distributing any content to students (and others) where you want them to be able to put the CD in the drive and up pops your content. It could be a HTML file, PowerPoint, anything.

My CD Album will be winging its way to the UK next week.
